The transformational effects of good efficient public transport on communities is evident at Dalston. WestonWilliamson were the architects for the east London line station at Dalston working with Scott Wilson (now aecom) for Balfour Beatty the contractor. Separately WestonWilliamson were requested to submit proposals for new apartments, retail and commercial accommodation above and adjacent to the station.
The integration of the bus station on the site was another major contribution to the success of the new development ensuring connectivity and regeneration. The development contains 560 new apartments and 26 shop units together with a gym, library and 5000m2 of commercial space. The east London line has transformed this part of east London and facilitated developments such as Dalston.
